Restaurant Review: Via Napoli Ristorante e Pizzaria

When we learned that Via Napoli had wood-fired pizzas that had tomatoes and dough imported straight from Italy, we decided that it was a must-do for our Disney bucket list. We ended up having dinner there on our fourth day at Disney World on our 2018 trip.

Antipasti (Small Plates)

We started with the arancini balls. Arancini are fried risotto balls with mozzarella and meat ragu.

We received two arancini balls. They had a very light flavour and the tomato sauce was pretty good. The fried risotto had a creamy consistency. However, I barely got any cheese inside my arancini ball. The meat ragu was a joke, with my arancini having no discernible meat inside of it at all. Chris fared a little better, but just barely; he had a small amount of meat ragu and cheese inside his arancini. This was still better than no meat all, but a small consolation for something that had so much potential.

Given that this was one of the items we were most excited for and had planned to try for months, we were very disappointed.

Two little balls of secrets. Sad, sad secrets.

Wood-fired Authentic Pizza Napoletana

We weren't about to come to an Italian restaurant without trying the pizza! We decided to be classic and order a Margherita Pizza. Surprisingly, the individual size was more than enough for us to share. Although the pizza was a little stingy on cheese, this was one of the better pizzas we've tried. The dough was crispy on the outside and ooey gooey on the inside. You could taste the freshness of the tomato sauce.

Not as much cheese as I would have liked, but pretty good!

Dolci (Desserts)

We still had a little room, so it was time to order dessert! We had the Coppa di Brutti Ma Buoni, which translates to ugly but good. The name alone warranted a taste!

This amarena cherry and vanilla gelato sundae was probably the best part of the meal. The sweetness really complemented the savoury pizza, and was just a great way to end our experience at Via Napoli.

This must be Insta-ugly, because it still looks pretty to me

Given the highs and the lows of our meal, we rate Via Napoli as 3.75/5 mouse ears. It's good, but a little overhyped in our opinion. It's definitely not your worst choice for a Table Service meal, but we probably won't be going back on our next trip.
