Restaurant Review: Teppan Edo

For any of you who have been read this blog for awhile, you'll know that Teppan Edo is one of my all-time favourite restaurants at Disney World. From the first time I ate there, I knew it was going to be a restaurant I visited on every trip.

Why I Like It

Not only is the food delicious, but it's a very interesting experience as well. You sit at a communal table surrounding a Hibachi flat-top grill while a chef entertains you and prepares your meal. From flipping shrimp into their hats to making volcanoes out of onions, these chefs want to ensure you have a great time and a great meal.

Obviously very excited to be back at Teppan Edo!

I'll be honest: we are creatures of habit. We always get the exact same meal when we go to Teppan Edo, and we enjoy it just as much as the first time!

Starter

To start with, we had the volcano roll. This roll is a grilled California Roll with shrimp, scallops, and volcano (read: spicy) sauce. The roll is grilled up and served hot! The shrimp and scallops have a creaminess to them that serves well with the volcano sauce. Although California Rolls could be seen as quite bland to some people, this is anything but!

Main Course

Next up was our main course. We split the julienne beef, which comes with garden salad, udon noodles, vegetables, and steamed white rice. All of our meals also came with two sauces: a ginger sauce that had a soy sauce base and a mayonnaise based sauce. Both were delicious, but I would say the ginger sauce was my favourite.

The two sauces that came with everyone's meal.

As we were sharing a meal, the chef placed our rice in two separate bowls and meal on two separate plates.

White rice that came with our meal.

Regarding the Julienne Beef, this beef is simply to die for. Not only is it tender and flavourful, the vegetables bring a freshness to the meal, with the udon noodles making this feel like a proper stir-fry. Although we split one entree, it was more than enough food to make us stuffed!

This is a great experience for the kiddos, too! Everyone has the option of using chop sticks or a fork for their meal, so no need to fear. For the more adventurous kids, there are even 'training' chop sticks that are tied together by the Cast Members of Teppan Edo to help kids more easily grip and manoeuvre the chopsticks.

This experience at this Hibachi-style restaurant is something that never gets old. With food this good, why would it? We give Teppan Edo 5/5 mouse ears.
